Amethyst from Nevada is perhaps the most simple, yet complex for yield and lapidary potential. It can be easily slabbed in parallel or horizontal directions to get amazing purple patterns. It is mostly lighter purple and smaller crystals, but the formation is massive and/or bulky and forms often in bands and clusters. Much of it is fracture easy and may be best stabilized for some carving or cutting projects. While most of this has been mined in the past for specimens, we feel that its greatest potential still lies in lapidary, art, and contractor projects.
